About us

Road Safety Scotland develops and co-ordinates national road safety education and publicity initiatives. It is funded by Transport Scotland, an agency of the Scottish Government and its annual budget is £2,470,000. RSS sits within the Road Safety Team in Transport Scotland's Policy Directorate.

Road Safety Scotland provides a locus for all those with an interest in, or remit for road safety. Part of Transport Scotland’s Road Safety Team, it provides a Forum which meets annually in October, with the main business of RSS being managed by two Sub-committees, dealing with Education and Publicity. These Sub-committees draw membership from local authorities, the police and fire and rescue services, as well as national bodies with a road safety involvement such as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, motoring organisations.

There are five members of staff at RSS, and the organisation currently occupies a few offices at Pentland House in the Chesser area of Edinburgh.
